Zina is a PhD student at the Department for Migration and Globalisation of the Danube University Krems and a researcher in the Smart Migration and Asylum Governance (SMAG) project. She holds a BA in Governance and Public Policy and a MA in Development Studies from the University of Passau. Prior to joining the SMAG project, she worked in the Africa Department of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the GIZ African Union Office in Ethiopia. Zina’s research interests include south-south migration, the migration-development nexus, the externalization of EU migration governance as well migrant rights and refugee protection.
