Iro is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of Political Science, University of Benin, Nigeria. He holds a PhD in Political Science (Peace and Conflict Studies option) from the University of Benin. Iro's research focuses on the effects of insurgent violence and resource conflicts as well as strategies for sustainable peace-building in Nigeria and West Africa. Iro has served as research consultant on security, peace-building, and migration issues to several local and international organizations including the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (Abuja), Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (Abuja), Nextier SPD (Abuja), development Research and Projects Centre (Abuja), Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (Abuja), Academic Associates PeaceWorks (Warri), Wikistrat (USA), and Eufrican Business Network (Germany) among others.
