Hildegard Schneider

Hildegard is Professor of European Union Law and former Dean of the Law Faculty of Maastricht University. She holds a professorship in European Law at the universities of Maastricht and Hasselt, and has been a Jean Monnet Chair in European Migration Law. During the last three decades, Hildegard has worked specifically in the area of European internal market law and European migration law. She has conducted various studies concerning the position of third country nationals including family members of EU citizens, legal migration, high-skilled workers, circular migration and asylum. Hildegard has also developed a keen research interest in the emerging area of art and law and the protection of cultural property.

Hildegard’s responsibilities within MIGNEX include assessment of coherence between the legal framework and policy instruments and assessment of the legislative and policy framework in the light of development principles.
